What We Believe

Our statement of faith:

God

There is one God, eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God is the loving Creator who invites us into relationship with Himself. In His presence we find our identity, our purpose and the hope that anchors our humanity.

Matthew 28:19; John 14:8-11; 16:5-15; Ephesians 1:13-14; Colossians 2:9

Humanity

God created human beings in His image for the purpose of living in an intimate relationship with Him. Through our sin, we are separated from God. In His infinite love, He offers us salvation.

Genesis 1:26-3:19; Psalm 139; Isaiah 59:1-2; Acts 17:24-28

Salvation

God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to offer His righteous life as payment (ransom) for our sin. Salvation is found in the death and resurrection of Jesus and is a free gift of God received through faith and expressed through confession, repentance and baptism (immersion) in His name. God's salvation is then experienced in His forgiveness of sin and His presence through His indwelling Spirit. We learn about His salvation through the recordings of The Bible.

The Bible

The Bible—both Old and New Testaments—are the inspired Word of God and therefore our final and sufficient authority for understanding God, life, faith, and death. Jesus affirmed the Old Testament as the God‑given Law and the Prophets, and the New Testament records His fulfillment of those writings through the testimony of His apostles and prophets. Scripture tells the story of God’s life with His creation, especially His people. The New Testament speaks directly to the church, instructing and correcting us so we can live in close relationship with God and experience the fullness of His promises.

Jesus' Church

Jesus said that He would build His church on the foundation of Him being God's Son and the Messiah/King of Israel and all the world. The church is the body of Christ on earth, purchased with His blood and empowered by His Holy Spirit to love one another and our neighbors as Christ loves us and to reach those separated from God so that they too will be saved and matured by the Holy Spirit. Jesus' church is called to proclaim the Gospel message to the ends of the earth proclaiming the resurrection of Jesus and His pending return.

Resurrection

Jesus Christ was crucified on a Roman cross, and God raised His physical body from the dead just as the Scriptures promised. He came to save us from sin and its consequence—death. Because Christ was bodily raised, all who belong to Him will also be bodily resurrected on the last day. Though His body was killed on Friday and laid in a tomb, it did not see decay, and He rose again on Sunday morning; the greatest miracle in history. His resurrection is the pattern and power by which the Holy Spirit will raise God’s people into eternal life.

Romans 8:11-18; I Corinthians 15:1-28

Eternity

Jesus Christ is seated at the right hand of the throne of God in Heaven. He will return, and on that day all will be bodily resurrected, judgment will be rendered, and God’s children will be fully restored in His image as we live and reign with Him forever. Eternity has no beginning and no end—it is the unending life of God shared with His people. And because this future restoration is certain, God has already begun His transforming work in us through the Holy Spirit, shaping us into the likeness of Christ even now.

Transformation

God not only wants to save us, but He also wants to transform us into the image of His Son Jesus Christ. Transformation is initiated by salvation and sustained by His grace as His Spirit continually develops us and as our will is brought into ever-increasing alignment with God's will.
